LG changes mind, vows Android 4.0 for Optimus 2X, G2X, more

LG says Android 4 on the way for high-end phones

After already changing its mind, LG on Wednesday promised that it would bring Android 4.0 to its high-end devices. It was "planning" the update for the Optimus 2X, which sells in the US as the T-Mobile G2X, as well as further high-end models. A schedule would come once Google had publicly shipped the OS, which is expected around when the Galaxy Nexus arrives later this month.

Other probable candidates are the Optimus 3D, known in the US as the Thrill 4G, and the Optimus LTE.

The company claimed to be dismissing "rumors" but was once again having to correct official company statements that denied any plans for an update. Late last year, it encountered a similar incident with the Optimus One, where it at first told users they wouldn't get any upgrade at all but later responded to a backlash by saying it had been hasty and eventually confirming upgrade plans.
