Testing accelerated in October
Apple is already at work on OS X 10.8, tracking data suggests. MacRumors reveals that it has recorded at least some v10.8 web traffic since August, and it has gradually picked up over time; activity has surged since the beginning of October. The traffic is more importantly reported to be coming from IPs within Apple, as well as nearby areas.
It is also said to be consistent with v10.7 traffic, which began almost a year before the first Lion developer preview. When v10.8 might make a public debut is uncertain, but Apple typically launches a new version of OS X every two years. The company could conceivably preview v10.8 at next year's Worldwide Developers Conference, but will probably save the final release for 2013, two years after the launch of Lion.

Already?
I'd be surprised if they weren't. Guess what, if they're not working on 10.9 they're certainly planning it.
