Digital version could trump paper sales
The newly-released Steve Jobs biography by Walter Isaacson is on track to becoming an Amazon bestseller, a company spokeswoman tells Reuters. "The way things are trending, it could very likely be our top-selling book of the year," says Brittany Turner. No sales numbers have been mentioned so far.
Also unstated is whether the Kindle version is doing better than the paper one. A Forrester Research analyst, James McQuivey, notes though that an average of 50 percent of bestselling books are digital, sometimes as much as 70 percent. "It's very likely for the next six months this book will outperform the physical version," he comments.
The biography is also available through Apple's iBookstore, but the company never discusses the sales of individual titles, and rarely mentions statistics for the service as a whole. Apple does, however, currently list the biography at the top of the iBookstore charts.
