First micro SIM LTE cards show up at Verizon

Verizon is now receiving its first LTE-capable micro SIM cards, SlashGear learned. This is important news as it paves the way for use of an LTE-capable iPad on the network. Secondly, it very simply takes up less physical space than full-sized SIM cards and should help in the creation of ever-smaller hardware.

The source spotted the Samsung Stratosphere and the Motorola Droid RAZR sporting the smaller network cards. Verizon first used the micro SIM LTE cards in the Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE.

    Why SIM cards??

I don't understand the need for SIM cards. Wouldn't it be easier if it was just all software, and to use a device, you simply logged into your carrier with your name and password? It can't be THAT hard to do.
