Nokia 800 Windows Phone press shots slip a week early

updated 01:15 pm EDT, Wed October 19, 2011

Nokia 800 all but certain after PR slips

Some of the last remaining details of the Nokia 800 have slipped out through a leak Wednesday. The company's first Windows Phone, better known as the Sea Ray, has shown up at PocketNow and largely confirms that the prototype seen earlier is the same that users will get at stores. It also shows references to Nokia Navigation and Nokia Music that support Nokia's claims it will have some control over what ships out of the box.

Disputes exist over the final specifications, but it's expected to be a Windows Phone 7.5 adaptation of the N9. A very minimal design will give it a 3.7- or possibly 3.9-inch curved screen and possibly a 1.4GHz, single-core processor. The eight-megapixel camera should stay intact, although the control will change to bring the hardware keys that Windows Phone needs where the N9 is nearly buttonless.

Nokia chief Stephen Elop has already confirmed that his company's first Windows Phones will show at Nokia World next week. Rumors peg the release in or around November 15, although whether or not that includes North America is an unknown.
