Google vet spoils Verizon plans for Galaxy Nexus with LTE

updated 03:05 pm EDT, Wed October 19, 2011

Google slips Galaxy Nexus Verizon model early

Google's Romain Guy in an early morning Google+ update inadvertently pre-announced Verizon's edition of the Galaxy Nexus. While showing photos of the setup used to record time-lapse movies for the unveiling, he displayed the Android 4.0 leader clearly showing Verizon's "4G LTE" logo on the back. Samsung and Google had promised some LTE versions, but neither they nor Verizon has made it public.

Verizon has widely been attached to the Galaxy Nexus. Internal tracking has it shipping on or near November 10 for $300 on a contract. Whether or not the phone ships for other US carriers or unlocked isn't certain.

Every Galaxy Nexus has a 4.65-inch, 720p Super AMOLED screen, a dual-core 1.2GHz TI OMAP processor, and a very fast five-megapixel rear camera with a 1.3-megapixel camera at the front. Storage varies between 16GB and 32GB, however, and there should be both HSPA+ versions and possible other LTE versions with GSM, not CDMA like Verizon's, as the regular voice network.
