Galaxy Nexus / Nexus Prime seen on video with Android 4.0

updated 07:55 am EDT, Fri October 7, 2011

Galaxy Nexus leaked in full ahead of event

Much of the Galaxy Nexus' mystery was taken away Friday after a Romanian leak and video (below). The Gadget.ro slip shows a design mostly in line with a small peek where the entire front is dominated by its touchscreen. Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) would let it use software-based buttons and, significantly, drop the search button that had once been common to most Android phones.

The clip also shows a later, much more polished version of the interface leaked on a Nexus S just last week. While not showing as much, it does show more of the home screen customization and how quickly the interface moves around on the hardware. Some concern might exist from a significant gap between opening the camera from the lock screen and the camera being ready to shoot.

Hardware details are still up in the air, although it's thought to be a close relative of the Galaxy S II HD LTE. A 4.65-inch, curved 720p Super AMOLED screen should be joined by a five-megapixel rear camera and at least 1.3 megapixels in the front. A debate exists over the choice of processors, such as whether it will use the HD LTE's dual-core 1.5GHz Samsung Exynos chip or switch to a new 1.2GHz TI OMAP chip.

Google and Samsung will unveil the new Nexus at the October 11 event and should ship it by late October or early November. Verizon may have an exclusive either on a particular version or for the entire model, as it considers the iPhone 4S big enough of a threat that the Galaxy S II isn't enough.

    It's too big

The thing that strikes me most about this video is that the operator has to reposition his hand many times to reach the extremities of the screen.

    camera lag?

"Some concern might exist from a significant gap between opening the camera from the lock screen and the camera being ready to shoot."

What lag is the author referring to? The camera app opened in about one second.
