Embedded Intel CPU features allow secure streaming
CinemaNow is now offering 1080p HD movies for rental and purchase with the help of Intel. CinemaNow has added several hundred HD titles to their catalog. Previously, the division of Best Buy had only offered standard-definition media.
Intel and CinemaNow have worked together to ensure that any PC running on a second generation (Sandy Bridge) Core i3, i5, or i7 processor has both the processing power, video playback capacity, and in-built security features to support watching HD movies. Previously, much of the 1080p HD content had not been available for download to a PC due, in part, because the content owners had concerns about security and content piracy. The new Intel CPUs embed hardware-based protection technology that has allayed these fears.
CinemaNow has so far closed deals with Fox and Warner Bros for several hundred titles in HD. This is in addition to the over 15,000 movies and TV episodes for which CinemaNow already has access.
