Accessories: More 4S cases from Belkin, Invisible Shield

updated 07:45 pm EDT, Thu October 6, 2011

Also compatible with the iPhone 4

Accessory maker Belkin has introduced additional cases for the iPhone 4S (and iPhone 4) along with models for the current-design iPod Touch in addition to the models announced yesterday, and ZAGG is now selling a version of its popular Invisible Shield clear film for the iPhone 4S and 4. Belkin's cases offer protection and durability in a wide array of designs and colors, while the Invisible Shield film provides strong scratch protection in a micro-thin coating that preserves the look of the iPhone.

Belkin's models include the Essential line that feature thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) construction which is shock-absorbent and impact-resistant while remaining flexible and grippable. The Essential 010 ($25) has a ribbed design with dual gloss and matte finish, available in three colors. The Essential 050 ($30) sports candy-colored hues in six sheer tinted duo-color combinations.

The Emerge line feature a thin, soft polycarbonate base with laser-etching and other designer touches. The Emerge 060 ($30) is available in three colors for the iPhone 4/4S only, while the Emerge 012 ($25) comes in four colors with a glittery appearance and is only available for the iPod Touch.

Belkin also offers the Max Case ($30) which features a co-molded, multi-layer body for additional impact protection that resists typical wear-and-tear. It is available for the iPhone in three colors, and the iPod Touch version offers three dual-color combinations. The Meta case line ($30) offers two models with a polycarbonate outer case with metallic plate for accented layering. The Meta 018 is iPod Touch only in four colors, while the Meta 028 for iPhone comes in three colors.

The company also offers sport armbands for the iPhone 4/4S and iPod Touch, known as the EaseFit Armband line ($20). Both feature a plastic cover to prevent sweat or rain from harming the device. All the Belkin models will be available by early November via Belkin's website or accessory retailers.

The ZAGG Invisible Shield follows in a long line of plastic static cling screen and back protectors, and the kit for the 4/4S includes 0.2mm thick strips to cover the antenna frame as well. The company describes the military-grade transparent material as "self-healing" and also oleophobic. The kit comes in either front-only, back-only, front-with-case (slightly trimmed to allow lip-hugging covers) and the full kit for all sides. Each kit comes with a 45-day money back guarantee. Prices for the kits are $15 for one-side-only kits, and $25 for full-body kits.
