30x faster, easier social sharing, now on sale
Global Delight has updated their iPhone camera app Camera Plus Pro to version 4.0, adding additional live filters to both photos and videos, reinstated its Smooth Video Zoom feature, improved the ability of the app to share photos and videos to social services and photo-storage sites such as Facebook and Picasa, and improved the overall speed of the app with a new capture engine that is 30 times faster than the previous release.
The company added 18 new live photo filters and nine live video filters, added sliders to control the intensity of an applied filter, and came up with a new way to preview live filters by using a two-finger swipe. The previously-available photo and video filters have also been tweaked further.
The video capture engine has been completely revamped and can now record video with live filters at 640x480 in any orientation, and videos are now compressed before they are uploaded to social network or image vaults, and sped up the process of saving a video. The new video zoom slider returns the ability to smoothly zoom in while using video (requires a 3GS, or later -- 3G users can access most of the features of the app, but are left out of the live filters and some photo effects. Video is recorded at either 16fps (iPhone 3GS) or 17 fps (iPod Touch or iPhone 4).
The app also enables camera-equipped smartphones a single-sign-in social and sharing process to services like Picasa, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, YouTube or just e-mail. The app also offers features to help users take better pictures, such as grid lines, white balance lock and touch exposure. The new version improves the control over brightness, contrast and other color controls, and offers a burst-mode that can take up to 40 pictures at full resolution.
Camera Plus Pro also features easy editing controls, tagging of images and transfer of photos from the iDevice to a computer desktop over Wi-Fi, as well as the option to have a private and password-protected collection of photos and video. Until October 6th, the app will be on sale for $1 compared to its usual price of $3.
