updated 06:45 am EDT, Tue September 27, 2011

ZTE T98 one of the first tablets with Tegra 3

The ZTE T98 7-inch Android tablet has been unveiled at the PT/Expo Comm China. In addition to running the latest build of Android for tablets, Android 3.2, the device is one of the first production-ready tablets to be announced powered by NVIDIA's next generation Tegra 3 (Kal-El) processor. The quad-core processor can be clocked at 1.5GHz, but has been slightly under clocked in this application at 1.3GHz.

The under clocking may be a direct result of the smaller batter that the ZTE T98 uses, which is only 4000mAh. The processor is matched with 1GB of RAM, while internal storage is 16GB. A five-megapixel camera is integrated into the rear of the device, while a two-megapixel camera is built into the front for video conferencing.

The Quad Cortex-A9 processor has three times faster graphics performance than the Tegra 2 and can support Blu-ray decoding and displays with a resolution of 1920x1200. In this case, it should have no problem powering the ZTE T98, which has a resolution of 1280x800.

There is currently no information on its pricing or when it might become available. [via Engadget]
