Motorola working on new 7-, 10-inch tablets?

Motorola will launch a couple of new tablets in November and December, Chinese daily DigiTimes just reported. Manufacturer Compal will build the smaller of the two devices, said to be a 7-inch tablet PC. The larger, 10-inch model will be reportedly built in-house.

Both devices are due for European and US market consumption and not likely to appear in Taiwan. The body of the smaller model will be from Taiwan Chi Cheng Enterprise and quarterly production volume is expected to be between 250,000 and 350,000 units.

Some believe the smaller tablet will be the leaked Xoom 2 Media Edition, which sports an 8.2-inch screen. Its preliminary, unofficial specs include a 1.2GHz processor, Android 3.2 or newer, and a weight of 0.95lbs.

The 10-inch tablet is likely the leaked Xoom 2, which should offer certain upgrades compared to the original. Early information has the tablet sporting the same 1.2GHz, dual-core processor as the Media Edition, Android 3.2, 1GB of RAM, longer battery life and 1080p video output. It would also be thinner, at 9mm.
