Griffin TechSafe atttempts to deter theft

Accessory makers Griffin and RadTech have introduced several new cases for iOS devices. Griffin's entry is the TechSafe, designed for the iPad 2. The product's main feature is a security cable, meant to deter theft by keeping an iPad tethered to an anchor point until a four-digit combination lock is opened.

The TechCase itself is made of polycarbonate plastic with a special hooking point for the lock. On the back are two fold-out stands, one meant for typing and the other for simple landscape viewing. Griffin is selling the TechCase for $80.

RadTech's offerings are actually folded in from Element Case, a company which has been around since 2008. For the iPhone 4 these include the ION ($50), which combines carbon fiber and kevlar; the Formula ($60), which is built mostly from carbon fiber; and finally the Vapor Pro Chroma ($150), a luxury aluminum model. For iPads RadTech is also selling the $150 Joule Chroma aluminum stand. All of the Element Case gear is on sale until September 30th, for instance reducing the price of the ION to as little as $25.
