T-Mobile to ship Sonic 4G hotspot in October

T-Mobile has just introduced its fastest mobile hotspot in the form of its Sonic 4G. It gives access to the carrier's HSPA+ 42Mbps network for up to five linked devices over Wi-Fi. The Huawei-built gadget weighs just under 3.9 ounces.

The hotspot has an integrated SD card slot that can support capacities of up to 32GB. Connected devices can access contents of the SD card if given permission to do so. An OLED display shows the device status, signal, and battery strength, the number of connected devices, the connection status and type, as well as unread text messages.

The hotspot ships in October, though no prices are yet official.

    Streaming photos

The SD slot is a nice touch, particularly if WiFi-equipped cameras could stream photos to it via WiFi and have the hotspot stream automatically them elsewhere via 4G. News, wedding and commercial photographers could find that very useful.
