updated 12:10 pm EDT, Fri September 23, 2011

New Sprint Direct Connect, Duramax phone dated

Sprint will launch an updated Direct Connect network on October, SprintFeed revealed on Friday. A leaked chart compares what the service will offer versus rivals like AT&T and Verizon (below). While cherry-picked by Sprint, it's clear the Sprint offering will have the most and best features. Pricing for the plan remains to be seen, however.

At the same time, SprintFeed learned the Kyocera Duramax PTT flip phone will launch on October 2 as well. It will cost $100, and the rugged device can withstand extremes of dust, shock, and water. It has a three-megapixel camera with built-in flash and can record videos.
