Michael Bravin pleads guilty to e-mail hack

A US District Court federal case reveals that Michael Bravin, an executive at Arri Camera, has been charged with illegally accessing the computer and e-mail address of Band Pro Film & Digital and several other companies. He has pleaded guilty and allegedly faces up to two months of jail time. Red camera CEO and found Jim Jannard also revealed his personal e-mail account was hacked as well.

The hacks occurred on or near January 19, 2010, in Los Angeles County, California. Bravin got access to the e-mail account password of President and CEO of Ammon Band while he was employed there, before resigning in December of 2009. The loss to Band Pro as a result of these hacks total at least $5,001.

Together with legal fees, prosecution, and defense attorneys, the estimated total restitution is $20,000. It's unclear if Jannard will try to challenge Bravin on the accusations. [via Red User forums]
