Kobo Vox eReader tablet undergoes FCC testing

A new mystery e-book reader tablet from Kobo has just showed up undergoing FCC testing. While not much is known about it, other than the Kobo Vox name and an eReader Tablet description, it does also appear to have a touchscreen. The profile photo also reveals a microUSB port and a headphone jack, suggesting some sort of multimedia capabilities.

The device will connect to the web and/or a book store through its Wi-Fi connection, and memory will be expandable thanks to a microSD memory card slot. A multimedia headset was also used for the testing of the device by the FCC.

No ship dates or prices are yet available, but the device may show up in stores before the holidays.

The design is likely a direct competitor to the Barnes & Noble Nook Color and the upcoming Amazon Kindle tablet. Both use Android and either do or will have features beyond just reading, such as apps and video. [via Engadget]
