Gmail faces brief, widespread outage

updated 02:50 pm EDT, Fri September 23, 2011

Gmail sees partial outage

Gmail users reported an unusual outage. The issue appeared to be primarily located in the US but has also seen some Canadians report problems getting access. Other areas' statuses weren't clear as of Friday afternoon.

Google hasn't said what triggered the outage. Its service has historically been reliable and seldom drops as quickly and broadly.
