Verizon FiOS on Demand app for iPad, iPhone gives video

Verizon posts FiOS TV streaming app

After months of remote control apps, Verizon fulfilled a frequent request Tuesday by releasing a true TV streaming app for iPads and iPhones. FiOS on Demand (free, App Store) gives access to any content that its IPTV subscribers can see on demand, including movies and TV shows. Subscribers can't buy videos directly due to Apple's rules but can access any videos they bought, rented, or otherwise have access to.

The app uses the same Flex View system made available to Verizon's Android phones and is limited to supporting as many as four devices. Access is currently limited to FiOS subscribers running iOS 4 or later.

No mention has been made of an Android tablet version outside of the original Galaxy Tab, which uses the phone OS.

Verizon has long been developing TV on the iPad and pushed Cablevision and other providers, even when providers were using the exact same feed as on the TV.

    ya sure...

keep upping the data rates, meanwhile putting out more ways to use up data. Pretty blatant.

    Does not seem to work...

Just tried it and only get access to on demand (paid) content. There does not appear to be a way to do other than "preview" normal movie content. Also TV content is not currently available. :-(

I guess I'll wait for the next update.
