Slacker ESPN radio customizes sports, teams

Slacker on Tuesday pushed out an update to its Android app (Market), an upcoming boost to its iOS app (App Store), and the web to add in promised ESPN Radio support. Both free and paid users get a pre-programmed ESPN station option, but Plus and Premium users can fully customize what they hear. Badged as myESPN stations, they let listeners narrow access down to individual sports like hockey or mixed martial arts as well as by particular teams.

Fans can also add individual ESPN shows. Content isn't necessarily live but is "up-to-the-minute" and rotates in new segments as they become available.

As before, free listening is ad-supported and has a limited number of skips. Plus users can pay $4 per month and get offline caching, unlimited skips, and no ads, while a $10 Premium account lets listeners play any of Slacker's available content on demand as well as make custom playlists. Android users have access immediately; an update with iPad and iPhone support is already waiting on approval and should go live soon.
