MediaPad coming to the US before year's end
Huawei has dated its Android 3.2-powered tablet, the MediaPad, for a first official appearance in Malaysia. The 7-inch device will arrive there by the middle of October, while shoppers in the US, China, Hong Kong and Thailand should expect to get it before year's end. In Singapore, the tablet can already be pre-ordered, priced at the equivalent of about $473.
The tablet was originally expected somewhat earlier in the US, though no reasons for the delay were given.
Specs include a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon and a 1280x800 resolution touchscreen with an industry-leading 217ppi pixel density. Users can output 1080p video over the HDMI output, while a five-megapixel camera sits out back. The front gets a 1.3-megapixel camera. Only a model with an HSPA 3G and Wi-Fi radios is available, and Bluetooth 2.1 is present as well. US pricing remains to be revealed. [via Engadget]
