Boost Mobile gets Samsung Transform Ultra with Android

updated 06:10 pm EDT, Thu September 15, 2011

Device offers QWERTY slider

Boost Mobile has announced that it is set to expand its Android-based offerings with Samsung's Transform Ultra. The device is built with a design similar to Samsung's original Transform, but with hardware buttons below the touchscreen rather than soft keys. Both devices appear to share the same QWERTY slider keyboard.

The handset offers a basic set of smartphone features, as a contract-free Android 2.3 device, including a single-core 1GHz processor, three-megapixel primary camera, VGA resolution front-facing sensor, Wi-Fi and GPS.

The Transform Ultra will ship on October 7 for $230. The contract-free carrier is also increasing its monthly unlimited plans for Android devices by $5, however existing customers who already own an Android phone can keep the current rate plan as long as they do not let their accounts expire.
