Logitech Wireless Touchpad clones Magic Trackpad for Windows

updated 07:20 am EDT, Tue September 13, 2011

Logitech trackpad gives Windows PCs multi-touch

Logitech offered an olive branch on Tuesday to Windows users who want the experience of the Magic Trackpad without having to get a Mac. The Wireless Touchpad provides the same basic concept of a multi-touch trackpad on the desktop with a five-inch 'buttonless' surface that can sit anywhere. Special drivers give Windows the support it doesn't normally have, including two-finger scrolling, three-finger page flip gestures, and four-finger app switches.

A decision to use RF wireless over Bluetooth gives it more longevity than its Apple-designed counterpart at about four months of regular use between charges of the two AA batteries it needs. The Unifying USB adapter lets it share one receiver with as many as five other Logitech devices, such as the K750 solar keyboard.

Officially, the Wireless Touchpad requires Windows 7 to work, although it may have basic support on Mac OS X. The peripheral should be shipping before the end of the month and will cost less than its Magic Trackpad counterpart at $50.

I am pretty sure you can get an Apple Magic Trackpad and use it on a Windows PC.
