Jobs biography grows by over 200 pages, release date unsure

updated 12:50 pm EDT, Mon September 12, 2011

Resignation add-on may be to blame

The size of Walter Isaacson's authorized Steve Jobs biography has grown by more than 200 pages, a check of Simon & Schuster's website shows. The book is now listed at 656 pages by its publisher, versus the 448 announced earlier. The latter figure is still displayed on the iBookstore.

Simon & Schuster is now also promising a launch "on or around" November 21st instead of that specific date. The updated size and timeframe are likely linked to Jobs' sudden resignation from Apple, which is being incorporated by Isaacson in spite of it happening late into the writing process. It's unlikely, though, that all 208 extra pages are dedicated to the event and Jobs' explanation.

    um

It couldn't be that the first number was just an estimate or guess as to the length? Rather than it 'growing'?

Thanks for asking, but the answer is no - the publisher's promotional literature says 448 pages. You can check the Amazon listing, which comes straight from the publisher.

It's almost certainly an estimation issue

I'm an author and every book I've written has had a page length published on Amazon before it's written. Publishers have to submit something when the catalogue is published.

(Currently writing a book that is apparently 608 pages long)
