LG Optimus Hub ships first in Italy, targets budget Android

LG Univa becomes Optimus Hub in Euro launch

LG put an end to a small mystery on Monday by revealing the identity of its new Univa low-cost Android phone. Now called the Optimus Hub, the design is uncharacteristically iPhone-like with a 3.5-inch, 320x480 screen and a central home button that doesn't normally show in Android. The 800MHz processor and five-megapixel autofocusing camera put it slightly ahead of some of its peers.

In its early form, it uses HSPA-based 3G and Wi-Fi to get online. Android 2.3 ships already loaded from the start and brings LG's custom but relatively light skin on top.

The Optimus Hub has been launched first in Italy and should expand to other countries soon. Which areas will get it haven't been named. LG only sometimes brings its lineup to the US.
