Q2ID v5.5 converts Quark 9 files to InDesign CS4, CS5.5

Buyers after June 1st get free upgrade

Santa Ana-based Markzware has announced an upgrade to its file utility that converts Quark Xpress documents to InDesign documents, Q2ID v5.5 -- now able to convert Quark files up to and including version 9 into Adobe InDesign (versions CS4, CS5 or CS5.5). The program is now fully compatible with Lion (Mac OS X 10.7) and can convert Quark documents from across platforms (Windows and Mac) as well as different versions of Quark Xpress.

The program meticulously converts all aspects of Xpress documents into an InDesign-compatible format, and includes troubleshooting reports for anything that couldn't be converted. Generally, however, the program is able to perfectly convert most Xpress files into InDesign files in a matter of a minute or so.

Users who purchased Q2ID v5.5 after June 1st and activated it before August 22nd qualify for a free upgrade to the new version. New customers can purchase Q2ID v5.5 for $200 for a one-seat license (discounts are available for multi-seat licensing purchases).

System requirements for Q2ID on the Mac include an Intel-based Mac running OS X 10.5.8 or higher, while for Windows users must have a Pentium III or later running XP or later. On both platforms, users must have at least 2GB of RAM and have authorized copies of Adobe InDesign CS4 or later. Owning a copy of Quark Xpress is not required to convert the documents to InDesign.

    Need the opposite

With the recent bloatware that Adobe is putting out these days, and the quasi-revival that Quark is going through, I need a plug-in to convert my InDesign files back to Quark. Despite the crappy customer service, Quark is actually putting out a better product than Adobe.
