Sprint confirms BlackBerry Curve 9350 delayed to October

updated 07:20 pm EDT, Thu September 8, 2011

Sprint moves Curve 9350 back a month

Sprint in a last-minute update said it was moving back the BlackBerry Curve 9350 to October. The delay was only blamed on "unexpected circumstances." No exact date was given, and Sprint only planned to narrow down the timeframe closer to launch.

Leaks have generally put the delay closer to October 2, although the new, official message leaves room for that to be pushed back. No reason emerged from the unofficial contacts.

The hardware in the Curve 9350 isn't considered revolutionary in most areas and is the most conservative of the entire BlackBerry 7 line, ranging from the 800MHz processor to the non-touch, 2.4-inch display and five-megapixel camera. Sprint and RIM may have encountered issues with the NFC short-range wireless, although without any immediate use for it on the carrier, this can't be verified.

RIM's main GSM version of the new Curve, the 9360, is already on sale in Canada and certain other countries despite otherwise identical hardware and could point to a CDMA or Sprint-specific issue.
