Droid Bionic finally goes on sale

The Motorola Droid Bionic is now on sale through the Verizon online store. The handset arrives some 9 months after it was first unveiled at CES 2011 in January, when it was shown running an NVIDIA Tegra 2. In between its announcement and its release, it has undergone a complete redesign and is now powered by a 1GHz TI OMAP 4430 dual-core processor capable of recording and playing 1080p video, including over HDMI out. One gigabyte of RAM also gives it strong multi-tasking capabilities.

The Droid Bionic centers on a 4.3-inch, 540x960 screen protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. An anti-glare is also built in. It has an eight-megapixel back camera and a 1.3-megapixel front camera. Verizon ships it both with 16GB of memory built-in and a 16GB microSDHC card preinstalled.

Like the Motorola Atrix, the Droid Bionic is matched with several accessories. A lapdock also costs $300, but drops to $200 when bought at the same time as the Bionic in conjunction with a 5GB, $50 per month data plan. The Webtop Adapter and HD Station cost $30 and $100 respectively, while an in-car Navigation Dock mount costs $40. A Battery Dock with an extra battery pack costs $50.

The Motorola Droid Bionic is available now for $300 on contract or for $590 purchased outright.
