Can download from stock sites, manage assets
Minder Softworks has brought out a new digital asset management (DAM) application for the Mac called Stock Keeper the combines a stock images search engine and browser with a full portfolio and digital asset manager. The program comes with connections to 28 popular sources of online media, but users can customize the list as they like. It also supports adding tags, notes and license information to stored images.
The program supports audio and video files as well as images, and supports many file types, including vector EPS and PDF. Like iPhoto, the program saves copies of assets into its own media library, which is locked to prevent accidental edits or deletions.
Downloading and storing images is easy, but Stock Keeper also makes the other part simple: finding the media asset a user wants when they want it. The assets are grouped into collections, and users can also create Smart Folders to help them organize by whatever criteria they find important. The app creates browsable thumbnails and can also be selected for a larger preview and information about the file.
Utilizing assets is as easy as drag-and-drop into the user's preferred graphics application, from Apple's Pages to Pixelmator, from Illustrator to Acorn. Files can be duplicated or copied by dragging them into the Finder, and double-clicked to open them in their native application.
Stock Keeper requires Mac OS X 10.6 or later and a minimum screen resolution of 1280 by 1024. It is available now and costs $19. Bulk purchase discounts and a free 30-day trial are also available.
