NEC shows two new monitors for home, business use
NEC just introduced two new monitors, with the ultra-slim, 20-inch MultiSync EX201W and 24-inch MultiSync P241W for professionals. The former is meant for home use or business applications and offers a 1600x900 resolution and a relatively slim 16.4mm thickness. It also has a 25,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and a 1,000:1 typical contrast ratio.
Other specs bring a 250cd/m2 brightness and a 5ms response time, while the horizontal and vertical viewing angles are 176 and 170, respectively. Connections include a DisplayPort and DVI-I inputs, with a USB port also present. An ambient light and a human presence sensor save energy.
The MultiSync EX201W ships later in September, priced at $229.
The larger P241W has an e-IPS panel and a higher 1920x1200 native resolution. Its typical contrast ratio is 1,000:1 and the gray to gray response time is 8ms. Brightness is a high 360cd/m2 and, because of the IPS panel, should come with more color accuracy at 96.7 percent of the sRGB color gamut or 71.4 percent of NTSC.
Accessories can be attached to a five-port USB hub, and NEC's DisplaySync Pro tech lets users control two computers with only one keyboard and mouse. This monitor adds an extra DVI-D input and VGA port compared to the smaller monitor.
It also ships later this month, for $749. For more advanced graphics-based work, the P241W-BK-SV will add SpectraViewII color calibration sensor and software and bump up the price to $1,249. [via PCLaunches]
