Two more arrests target LulzSec, Anonymous

updated 04:25 pm EDT, Fri September 2, 2011

Two more arrested in separate investigation

Scotland Yard has announced two more arrests in conjunction with recent online attacks by hacker groups Anonymous and LulzSec. The arrests, made separately, were the result of a continuing investigation by the Yard, the FBI, and other law enforcement agencies into alleged illegal criminal activities by the two hacker groups. The men, aged 20 and 24, were charged with conspiring to commit offenses under the Computer Misuse Act 1990.

Police had already charged a 17 year-old youth and 22 year-old student in relation to the same offenses.

"The arrests relate to our inquiries into a series of serious computer intrusions and online denial-of-service attacks recently suffered by a number of multi-national companies, public institutions and government and law enforcement agencies in Great Britain and the US," said Detective Inspector Mark Raymond from the Metropolitan Police's Central e-Crime Unit. The spokesman declined to identify the targeted organizations.

The arrests follow two different men being charged on Thursday as part of a separate investigation over different online attacks attributed to Anonymous. [via The Guardian]
