Lenovo IdeaPad A1 tablet quietly outed for $199

updated 01:05 pm EDT, Thu September 1, 2011

IdeaPad A1 due with 1GHz CPU, 7-inch screen

Lenovo will soon begin offering an entry-level Android tablet with the IdeaPad A1. The seven-inch tablet will cost $200 to start and run on Android 2.3. That OS will be customized with Lenovo's own launcher software as seen on the K1, however, even with the non-tablet OS.

The A1 will be powered by a single-core, 1GHz processor to keep costs down, athough two cameras will still make their way into the design. A 32GB model will be the higher-end offering, with a 16GB to be the entry-level model.

Users will have the ability to buy apps from the Android Market and a newly-launched Lenovo App Shop. There will be 200 apps at launch. [via ZDNet]
