Samsung Droid Prime reaches Bluetooth SIG with Verizon ID

updated 08:20 am EDT, Tue August 30, 2011

Samsung Droid Prime validated by Bluetooth group

Rumors of the Samsung Droid Prime being Google's true flagship phone were given quick support Tuesday after the discovery of the phone in a Bluetooth Special Interest Group certification. The device is going by its rumored SCH-i515 name, the SCH being an immediate clue as to its Verizon destination. Appropriately, it's also listed as a CDMA phone and coming to North America.

While little can be scraped from the listing other than Bluetooth 3.0 support, earlier tips have filled in some details. The phone should be a standard bearer as the first with Ice Cream Sandwich (possibly Android 4.0) and also a technological showcase. Its 4.5- or 4.65-inch screen could be one of the first its size with a 720p display. The release window will likely make it a dual-core device using LTE-based 4G to get online. Samsung may, however, go back to a five-megapixel camera for reasons unknown.

The Droid Prime could be on Verizon shelves as soon as October, pitting it directly against an iPhone 5 release. Whether or not it comes to other carriers or as an unlocked GSM phone as the Nexus Prime is still to be determined. [via Blog of Mobile]
