Deutsche Telekom to start in-store iPad 2 sales

updated 10:55 am EDT, Tue August 30, 2011

Plans encompass five countries

Deutsche Telekom will soon start selling iPad 2s in its stores, Dow Jones reports. While the carrier has offered iPad data plans for some time, the actual tablets have been sold elsewhere, whether through Apple Stores or third-party retailers. DT's in-house iPad sales will cover five different countries, including stores in Germany, Austria, Greece, Poland and the Netherlands.

Shoppers will have "options for Wi-Fi and 3G technologies," according to Dow Jones, suggesting that it should be possible to buy Wi-Fi only tablets despite going through DT. Regardless, the carrier says it will be possible to buy iPads with or without contracts. The company has yet to announce a launch date or hardware pricing.
