Motorola Pro+ is work-grade Android 2.3, may hit T-Mobile

Motorola Pro Plus unveiled

Motorola took a second shot at capturing the pro smartphone market away from RIM on Tuesday with the Pro+. Along with a sleeker and more BlackBerry Bold-like shape, it's the first work-level phone from Motorola with Android 2.3. Accordingly, it gets the latest version of the Blur interface and has seen its 3.1-inch display upgraded to a sharper 640x480, twice as dense as the older Droid Pro and XPRT.

The smartphone builder is deliberately vague on the processor choice other than that it runs at 1GHz, although this hints at its using a TI OMAP chip. A five-megapixel camera and 4GB of internal storage are stock. Corporate help comes in through better Exchange support and 3LM that aren't usually present in Android.

Officially, the Pro+ is due to reach Asia and Europe in October. Motorola strongly hints at a North American release, though, as it supports 14.4Mbps HSPA 3G on both AT&T and T-Mobile airwaves as well as most Canadian carriers.
