Samsung spoils plans for Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE

Samsung gives away 4G Galaxy S II and Tab 8.9

Samsung through briefly available mentions on its Flickr page (since pulled) unwittingly revealed two of the devices it's planning for the end of the year. It intends to release a Galaxy S II LTE that uses the faster 4G speeds. Little was given away of plans, but it's intended to be unveiled on August 29, hinting at a possible sync with the US Galaxy S II event, and will be shown at the IFA show in Berlin on September 1.

If it comes to the US, AT&T would be the only real carrier choice. Verizon has bowed out of carrying the Galaxy S II and, while it may have something similar, won't have what Samsung intends to show. AT&T is just starting up its LTE network by the end of the summer and could use the Galaxy S II LTE as a showcase. If not the US, countries like Canada, Korea, and Sweden with early LTE rollouts could all be candidates.

Simultaneously, Samsung also acknowledged that it would have a Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE. The Android 3 tablet will presumably be identical to the device we tried at CTIA but with 4G, much like the Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE at Verizon is similar on the outside. The device was only given a release date sometime in the second half of the year.

Next week is expected to be one of Samsung's bigger pushes in mobile even outside of the new devices. Along with the US-spec Galaxy S II and the new LTE variants, it should introduce three more, the Galaxy Tab 7.7, the Wave 3, and the still mysterious Galaxy Note.
