DTP Tools adds Annotations to its InDesign plug-in lineup

updated 12:00 am EDT, Thu August 25, 2011

Lets users import notes, comments, changes

Annotations 1.0 for Adobe InDesign is a plug-in from DTP Tools that allows users to import text edits, yellow sticky notes, comments and more from PDF documents directly into InDesign. The company says the plug-in is the first of "several" new products that will allow users of other programs ways to more easily participate in the creation of InDesign documents. Annotations should improve productivity dramatically when making changes based on PDF worksheets.

The plug-in can import and place sticky notes, text edits, call-out boxes, arrows and shapes, text highlights and related notes from PDF documents. It can also import strikethrough text, underlining and text deletions. Users can create (non-exportable) sticky notes in InDesign documents, and managed imported text edits by accepting or rejecting them one-by-one or en masse. Notes, comments, markups and text highlights can be placed in exactly the same place as they are located in the PDF.

Annotations costs $79 per license, and works with InDesign versions CS3-CS5.5 for both Mac OS X and Windows. A 14-day trial version is also available.

    Hope

ID has needed this for a long time. After all they've invested in developing this, I hope Adobe doesn't add the feature to the next revision.
