Installer for CGI, web apps also improved
Real Software has updated its flagship Real Studio 2011 to Release 3, which updates both the web and desktop versions of the development environment software that offers object-oriented programming tools for cross-platform apps compatible with all three major desktop platforms as well as web-based applications. The new version features 70 improvements and 11 new features, including increased HTML5 geolocation support and OS X Lion compatibility.
In addition, the CGI installer has been improved with better file permissions. The update also comes with a new demo application for Real Studio Web Edition, a customer database app. Among the Lion-specific improvements is support for the new higher-quality voices used for text-to-speech. Also improved was the JSON class, with a new Lookup function, and App.LaunchMessageDelay has been added. Web apps have also been optimized for faster launch times.
Release 3 is now available to all current Real Software customers. Real Studio 2011 offers various editions (Personal, Professional, Web and Enterprise) starting at $99. Free 30-day trials of all versions are available from the company's website.
