RIM unveils new Curve running BlackBerry 7

RIM has officially launched the next-generation BlackBerry Curve running the new BlackBerry 7 OS. The Curve will be available either as the 9350, 9360 or 9370 with the three model variants essentially signifying the type of 3G-radio connection built in to the device and its network compatibility. The three devices all run an 800MHz processor matched with 512MB of RAM, although the 9370 includes 1GB of built-in storage versus 512MB in the 9350 and 9360.

The Curve centers on a 2.44-inch HVGA+ display with a 480x360 pixel resolution, although it is not a touchscreen and therefore cannot take advantage of the touch capabilities built into the new OS. A full-touchcreen version known as the Curve 9380 is known to be in development but was not announced at this time.

On the rear of the device is a 5-megapixel camera equipped with LED flash and capable of VGA video recording. Connectivity is present in the form of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, while the same 1000mAh battery also powers all three versions. Internal storage is expandable thanks to a microSD slot for support up to 32GB, while the device measures in at only 0.43-inches thin.

The next-generation BlackBerry Curve will be available in Canada this month, while other countries will begin receiving shipments in September. Pricing is yet to be detailed.
