BlackBerry Colt leak suggests keeping dual-core, full touch

RIM QNX-based Colt to keep dual core, full touch

More details about RIM's forthcoming QNX-based smartphone codenamed Colt have been revealed . It was originally thought that a single core processor to conserve battery life, against what will mostly be dual-core competition by the time it launches, might hobble the smartphone. However, RIM will run a dual-core processor in the device, and will make it full touchscreen as well, like its larger 7-inch BlackBerry PlayBook sibling.

While the exact specifications of the processor and the display size are not yet known, it is expected that RIM will deliver a display at least the same size as the new BlackBerry Torch 9850/9860, which is 3.7-inches. It is also thought that the phone will use an HSPA+ radio when it launches, and not 4G LTE technologies, according to the Crackberry sources.

RIM Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis used the company's Annual General Meeting of Shareholders to reveal that its first true answer to the iPhone and Android platforms is currently on a Q1 launch timetable.
