Apple posts iOS 5 beta 6 and Apple TV, iTunes, Xcode betas

updated 01:55 pm EDT, Fri August 19, 2011

iOS 5 beta 6, iTunes 10.5 beta 6, Xcode 4.2 ship

On cue, Apple has posted to the Developer Center new test versions of iOS, iTunes, and Xcode. iOS 5 beta 6 primarily tackles bug fixes such as the ability to cope with syncing files changed outside of an app and fixes to Game Center and GameKit. Some bugs continue to remain, such as some iCloud storage commands.

Accompanying the release are iTunes 10.5 beta 6, which is mostly needed to sync the newer iOS 5 beta, as well as Xcode 4.2 Developer Preview 3. Apple TV owners also now have a beta 5 release. iWork for iOS beta 2 has also posted to take advantage of iCloud.

So far, most iOS 5 beta releases have included minor feature additions or have enabled promised features. No new revelations have been spotted so far.

iOS 5 and matching software should arrive in the fall, most likely now in October. [via AppleInsider]
