Motorola Droid Bionic may cost at least $300, ship Sept 8

Droid Bionic MAP puts it at 300

Verizon when it ships the Motorola Droid Bionic may give it a very high asking price. A leaked internal note has the minimum advertised price at $300 on contract, or as much as the Droid Charge. Android Central's copy also penned in a September 8 ship date.

The pricing ties it for the most expensive phone on Verizon and could put it out of contention versus the iPhone 5 many assume will be available a few weeks later, when Apple may still start off at $199. Motorola, like others, may need to charge a premium for first-generation LTE hardware. How much of that pricing is Verizon's versus Motorola's is stil uncertain.

The remade Droid Bionic when it does ship will be Verizon's first dual-core 4G phone and, in a break from the pack, use a TI OMAP processor instead of the usual Tegra 2. A 4.3-inch, 540x960 screen will make it one of the visually richer models, and it should be on par in cameras with eight megapixels at the back and at least a VGA resolution camera at the front.
