ASUS' Tegra 3-based Transformer 2 facing production delay?

updated 07:55 pm EDT, Wed August 17, 2011

Tablet said to be delayed for another month

Although ASUS' second-generation Transformer tablet was initially rumored to be arriving as early as mid-August, however the device is now said to be delayed for the next month or longer. Corroborating earlier reports, sources have told Fudzilla the tablet will represent the first product based on NVIDIA's quad-core Tegra 3 platform.

The Tegra 3 chip, referred to by the monicker Kal El, represents a 1.5GHz design that is claimed to be at least twice as fast as Tegra 2 while providing more power than Intel's Core 2 Duo platform. The 40nm chips are also said to be efficient, pulling less power than Tegra 2 in most situations.

ASUS has announced plans to launch the Transformer 2, however the company has yet to confirm the Tegra 3 internals or provide a launch time-frame.
