Fulfills promise made if games got 100,000 'Likes'
Id Software has fulfilled a pledge to offer its popular iOS FPS rail shooter games Rage and Rage HD for free for week as a result of the game's fan page getting 100,000 "Likes" on Facebook. Both games were updated two weeks ago for better compatibility with the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4's graphics systems as well as adding an analog thumbstick as a control option and a "melee mode" if the iOS device is shaken forward.
The game places players as the stars of a post-apocalyptic game show called Mutant Bash TV, where they must scour three levels for ammunition and cash while warding off hordes of hungry mutants. The game features Game Center support and leaderboards, achievements, Museum Mode, second-display support and mirroring for playing the game on HDTVs, as well as gyroscope support for the 4th-generation iPhone and iPod Touch. The HD version uses higher-resolution textures and is recommended for more recent devices.
