LG Thrill 4G's release on AT&T moved back to September 4

updated 03:05 pm EDT, Tue August 16, 2011

2nd slip in less than 3 weeks

AT&T has once again slipped the delivery of the LG Thrill 4G. In an email leaked by Android Central, Radio Shack Store Managers and salesmen were told that the new Android-based phone, which was expected to be on store shelves August 21, would not be available until September 4. They were also told to stop taking pre-orders immediately.

The Thrill 4G, which LG claims will be the first "dual-core, dual-channel superphone" to be sold in the US, is essentially an Optimus 3D with a 4.3-inch, glasses-free 3D display, a 1GHz dual-core TI OMAP processor, and two five-megapixel cameras for 3D photo and video capture. The OS was originally expected to be Android 2.2, but given the delay, it could come with 2.3 when finally shipped.

This is the second unofficial shipping delay for the smartphone. It was originally slated at to be on Radio Shack shelves August 7, but that was pushed back in late July until the August 21, date.

The Thrill is no longer being shown on either the Radio Shack or AT&T cell phone Websites. AT&T has not given any reason for the delay.
