Also adds compatibility with DWG 2011 files
IMSI/Design last week updated their popular TurboCAD Professional for Mac to version 6., bringing with it full Lion compatibility as well as a half-dozen new features, including 3D design features for doors, walls and windows, better formatting of objects and dimensions and automatic wall dimensioning, reports Architosh. The company also makes a 3D DWG file viewer for iOS devices.
TurboCAD Mac Pro 6 is now compatible with AutoCAD .dwg 2011 files, and has added greater detail to parametric door and window symbols. Doors can now be drawn in 3D, and the program now features "smart" walls, doors and windows that feature the frame details and direction of the door swing.
The program requires an Intel Mac running OS X 10.5 or higher, a discreet video card and at least 1GB of RAM. Version 6 retails for $500, though existing customers can upgrade by calling IMSI/Design directly (users will need their existing serial number on hand) at 800-833-8082.
In related architectural/3D/CAD news, upcoming 3D design program iRhino 3D -- a viewing program for the iPad that opens files created in the still-under-development Rhino design program -- has been updated to v1.2, now supporting Autodesk Blocks, Dropbox and fixing a major thumbnail issue. The program works on the iPhone or iPad (iOS 3.2 or later required) and costs $4 from the App Store.
Finally, print and 3D asset maker Dosch has announced several new media libraries aimed at 3D professionals. Among them are Awards & Trophies; Classic Cars; Stylish Bathroom Design and Voice-Over Background Music intended for use with animations and presentations. Each library contains between 20 and 50 fully-detailed 3D models suitable for commercial use, and supporting most common 3D applications including 3ds Max, Lightwave, Maya, OBJ, Softimage, Cinema 4D and VMRL. The 3D libraries sell for $149, while the background music library is priced at $99. [via Architosh]
