updated 06:05 pm EDT, Thu August 11, 2011

Also compatible with Snow Leopard

Absoft Corporation have launched an updated suite of visual code editing, management, compiling and optimization tools for Lion and Xcode 4.1 as part of its Pro Fortran v11.1 IDE, which is also compatible with Snow Leopard. The v11.1.3 update includes Absoft's dynamic AP load balancing technology, which optimizes code for 20 percent better performance, along with an SMP and vector analyzing tool.

Among the visual coding tools improved in the Lion update are such elements as Fontran syntax-sensitive color editing; an Fx3 debugger with Fortran and C syntax coloring; graphical code management tools; an SMP code analyzer that provides in-context specific advice for maximizing performance, and color highlighting of loop, parallel and vector optimizations.

Existing Mac Pro Fortran v11.1 customers can download Service Pack v11.1.3 at no charge from the company's download page. The update is also available for Windows and Linux users. Single-machine licensing for Mac Pro Fortran starts at $700 (academic licenses start at $300). Users may request a free trial.
