iPhone clone ups hardware specs

Meizu's MX smartphone may be one of the first to arrive on the market with a quad-core processor, according to CEO Jack Wong. The handset was originally expected to be limited to a dual-core processor, however the executive published a post on the company's official forums claiming the 32GB variant will be upgraded to a quad-core chip.

The company has yet to provide additional details surrounding the quad-core processor, such as the manufacturer or clock speed. The entry model with 16GB of internal storage will still have a dual-core ARM Cortex A9 processor.

The MX also promises a 640x960 display that matches the resolution of its predecessor, but jumps from 3.5 to 4 inches from corner to corner. Other standard features are expected to include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and an eight-megapixel camera.

Despite the last-minute change in specs, Meizu still promises to unveil the MX sometime in September. [via Meizu Me]
