Epson debuts two new Powerlite projectors for business

updated 06:30 pm EDT, Tue August 9, 2011

Features instant on and off for mounted units

Epson has announced two forthcoming additions to their Powerlite lineup of projectors for small and medium-sized businesses, the PowerLite 1221 with a native resolution of 1024x768 and the PowerLite 1261W with 1280x768 native resolution. Both projectors feature 2800 lumens of color and white light output and the ability to accept input from either Mac or Windows computers via USB or HDMI in addition to the other usual methods, including S-Video, composite and VGA connector.

The two models, which will be available for sale in September, are distinguished primarily by their resolution differences and the 16:10 aspect ratio of the PowerLite 1261W, designed to take full advantage of widescreen notebooks. Both machines offer automatic vertical keystone and an innovative and intuitive slider for horizontal keystone, and both use Epson's extended-life lamps with up to 5,000 hours of expected life.

Installed units of either model can use the Direct Power On and Off mode, which allows the projector to be powered via a wall switch, turning on instantly and allowing presentations to begin in as little as five seconds. The units also feature a "A/V Mute" option where both sound and images can be temporarily paused. The models sport Epson's three-chip LCD technology, allowing more efficient lamp use with more true-to-life color that uses 25 percent less energy than traditional one-chip DLP technology.

The Epson PowerLite 1221 and 1261W are compact and lightweight enough to include a carrying case, will be available in September, and retail for $549 and $649 respectively.
