Google+ for iOS gains iPad, iPod touch support

updated 01:15 pm EDT, Mon August 8, 2011

Update also includes fixes, Huddle settings

Google has released an updated iOS app for Google+, its fledgling social network. The most critical addition is support for the iPad and iPod touch; previously, the device would run only on iPhones. The app does not as yet have a native iPad interface, in spite of the extended compatibility.

Other additions include settings for Huddle, the group messaging component of Google+, and aggregated circle add notifications. An assortment of unspecified fixes have been made to the software's stability and performance. The app is a free download, but requires a Google+ account, which is currently invite-only.

    Sad...

If not for the article title, I wouldn't know whether I was looking at a Facebook stream or a Google+ stream. What a sorry state Google has deteriorated to...so devoid of innovation that they can only blindly copy other's products...

Yes, because it shows a post and has the 9 box icon on the top. Beyond that it doesn't look anything like the other, but why quibble about details.

    Sad indeed

Even the font color of the post author is Facebook blue, and the light-gray timestamp with the dot separator; not to mention the exact same left-margin square thumbnail; but that's all just coincidental I'm sure. At least Ping managed to fit in a little more variation in its UI.
Also sad that the Circles feature is supposedly such a revolution in UI, yet they couldn't figure out how to bring it to a touch interface. I guess there was no similar circles feature out there to copy in mobile touch UI.
